Dr. Alvin Zelickson is an accomplished dermatologist and is considered by peers a leader in the field of dermatology. He’s earned numerous awards and honors spanning his 50-year career, including the Gold Award for “Clinical Use of the Electron Microscope” and the Silver Award for “Ultrastructural Changes in Sebaceous Glands Following Treatment of Cystic Acne With Isotretinoin,” both from the American Academy of Dermatology.
Zelickson founded Skin Specialists in 1961 in affiliation with the University of Minnesota’s Department of Dermatology. Skin Specialists is a medical dermatology practice with three locations in the Twin Cities and for many years, Mpls St. Paul Magazine has listed him as one of the Twin Cities’ “Top Doctors”.
In addition to his many accomplishments, Zelickson has presented several scientific exhibits at American Academy of Dermatology meetings and written many articles published in medical journals and books. He’s Past President of the Minnesota Dermatological Society and served on the Boards of the American Academy of Dermatology, Society of Investigative Dermatology, and Noah Worcester Dermatologic Society.
Zelickson graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School. His career in dermatological medicine began at the University of Minnesota as Clinical Professor in the Department of Dermatology’s Electron Microscopy Laboratory. While working there, doctors from around enlisted Dr. Zelickson’s assistance in diagnosing skin diseases.
